Charles E. Dobrusin


Charles E. Dobrusin founded Charles E. Dobrusin & Associates Ltd. in June 2006. Previously, Charley was a member of Sachnoff & Weaver, Ltd. and a Co-Chair of that firm's Estate and Wealth Planning Practice Group.

Charley has over 35 years of experience in the following aspects of trust and estate law: strategic estate and philanthropic planning; advising and counseling executors, trustees and beneficiaries; resolution of disputes involving trust and estate matters; succession planning for family businesses; and the creation and representation of charitable organizations. Charley serves as trustee and acts as trust counsel of trusts with modest assets as well as those with assets exceeding several hundred million dollars.

A native of Boston, Charley graduated from Boston Latin School in 1970 and received a B.A. in Judaic Studies from Brandeis University in 1974.

Charley graduated from New York University School of Law and was admitted to the Illinois bar in 1979.  He received the following degrees from The Jewish Theological Seminary of America:  M.A. in Judaic Studies (1976); Rabbi (1980); Honorary Doctor of Divinity (2010). 

Currently, Charley serves as a Director of the Highland Park Community Foundation and as a member of the Professional Advisory and Philanthropic Fund Committees of the Jewish Federation of Metropolitan Chicago.  He is a member of the Chicago and American Bar Associations, the Chicago Estate Planning Council, the Chicago Board of Rabbis and the Rabbinical Assembly.  Charley is also a member of the Board of Directors of the Bernard Heerey Family Foundation and the Tawani Foundation.
